In celebration of the awesome Femme Show, which will be gracing Central Square on September 21st and 22nd, I encourage you to check out the show's own blog, where individual performers and staff share their own thoughts about what femme means for them. Gorgeous.
By the way, for those who are less familiar with the term femme, there are many definitions. Here's one that sums it up for me (scroll down for "Femme"). Oh, and while we're at it, here's a snippet of what femme means for me:
I really feel my femme side when I want to wear things that sparkle, or when I go to Rogue Burlesque's fabulous one-day course and learn how to pull off silk gloves with sexy aplomb and move my hips in a way that feels hot. That said, my femme side works deeply in me much of the time. My inner femme likes to nourish and support others, and is also fond of psychology, including the darkness we hold within. She stands tall as she speaks her truth and fights unfairness. She comforts people softly, strongly, warmly. And dear god, does she love to dance...
So. Do you have your own inner femme? And if so, what does she mean for you?

Love this, Lana! My inner femme is quite the vixen herself. She likes listening to Portis Head, drinking red wine, wearing red lipstick, and sometimes grocery shopping in jeans with bare midriff tops. Pretty straightforward, really. ;)
ReplyDeleteHey Lindsey! Thank you so much for this! And as for your own inner femme, she sounds utterly delightful. ;)
